Death and Commemoration
On May 11th 1945, a German Attack had taken place on the Unit. During the attack, he was heavily injured in his stomach and torso and later died from his wounds on May 13th, 1945. His father had not specified a specific place for his son to be buried, so his body stayed in Italy and was buried in Castel Fiorentino, Italy. His body would later be moved to the Florence American Cemetery in Via Cassia, 50023 Tavarnuzze FI, Italy. He was buried on Plot H, Row 6, Grave 34.

Commemoration:
For serving his nation and dying on the front line he was awarded a purple heart.
He was one of many men to have died on the side of the allies during the war but his loss had helped the allies gain even more ground against the fascists who dominated Europe at the time. He and those like him battled adversity as well as the war itself to pave the way to the future.
He was one of many African American men who served the United States during the war.
